Lleva agua, buen calzado y respeto.

What is Tetakawi?

Tetakawi is basically San Carlos’s attention-seeking mountain: a volcanic rock with TWO peaks, because one wasn’t dramatic enough. It looms over the town like it owns the place, and honestly, it kind of does. The name comes from the Yaqui (Yoeme) language, and Indigenous peoples have revered it for generations as a sacred site, so maybe don’t treat it like a gym. Hikers and climbers still scramble up its crumbly volcanic rock for views of the Gulf, and photographers camp out at sunrise and sunset, when the whole thing glows like it’s posing. Which it is. Bring water, good shoes, and respect.
