Nacapule-ing

Updated: 6 days ago

Here is a version tailored for the Tetakawi Adventures vibe—keeping it rugged, local, and filled with that "San Carlos" energy.

Desert Grit: The Megalith vs. Nacapule

I had that itch to ride that just wouldn't quit. Even though I came up a few feet shy of a clean 10-mile "ego number," I logged a solid 9.54 miles from the house to Nacapule and back.

The highlight? Ripping back through that "downhill-ish" singletrack. It’s hands down my favorite stretch of the trail system I’ve explored so far. There’s just something about the flow there that hits different.

Scouting the Horizon: Cañón Alacrán

There is so much more dirt to the west that I haven’t touched yet. This weekend, I’m pointing the tires toward Cañón Alacrán. It’s relatively close to home, but looking at the topo maps, it’s going to be a burner. I’m already planning to double up on electrolytes and snacks for this one.

The goal? Connect it to Camino a la Poza and turn it into one massive, epic loop back to the front door.

The Right Tool for the Job

You’ll notice in the photos I stuck to the main "street" (the gravel/dirt road) on the way into Nacapule Park. It begs the question: Why not take the gravel bike? Simple. Because "blazing" is better than "surviving." I chose the Megalith today so I could absolutely shred the singletrack on the return leg. The Kuma Grava is a beast, but until I swap those slick tires for some knobby 700x40s, it’s a bit too "skating on ice" for our desert loose-over-hard.

Pro-Tip: Don’t let the breeze fool you. I smeared on the SPF 50 today and my neck and arms thanked me for it. The Sonora sun doesn't play favorites.

More to come after the weekend scouting mission.

Stay wild.
